“SYSBIO.IT – Centre of Systems Biology” is an Italian open access Research Infrastructure (RI) focused on Systems Biology, the new study paradigm of Life Sciences. Systems Biology integrates genome-wide molecular analysis with mathematical modeling and computer simulations. SYSBIO.IT is funded by Italian Ministry for Research (MIUR), in the framework of the Italian roadmap for RI. SYSBIO.IT operates under an agreement between the National Research Council (CNR) and the University of Milano-Bicocca, and is distributed throughout different locations in Milan and Rome.
The Director is Prof. Lilia Alberghina, a leader of the European Systems Biology.
SYSBIO.IT tune its Systems Biology approach on mitochondrial metabolism, and its connections with cell growth, cell cycle and cell death, molecular mechanism related to cancer and neurodegeneration.
The project is currently composed by 12 Research Unit (RU), located in Milan and Rome.
At EU level, SYSBIO.IT is an Associate partner of ISBE (Infrastructure for Systems Biology Europe), the large-scale European research infrastructure project of Systems Biology of the European Strategy Forum on Research Infrastructures (ESFRI).
